Victory IS Sweet, y'all

To my friends,

I need thank y'all so much for all of your help, support, kind words, motivation, well wishes and enthusiasm. I seriously do not know what I would have done without it. Seriously. I'm still recouping and regrouping and dealing with the outcome (we won by 42 votes... which has yet to be certified)... but I promise I will call/reply to emails soon.

So basically, on Tuesday Night, we won by 44 votes. Because, clearly, I had to go for the most dramatic win EVER.

And it was great. Really it was. And so I celebrated. And here is how:
1 Margarita on the Rocks
1 Frozen Margarita
2 dark beers of unknown origin
2, yes TWO, bottles of champagne: consumed straight out of the bottle, which I was chugging away at ALL NIGHT.

So yeah- a little bit hungover was I.

Which wasn't good... because we needed to canvass the votes in the AM. This had to be done because:
1. Mr. Marrs did NOT call to concede the election
2. We only won with 44 votes

Oops- I wish I'd known that I had to be a meeting in "east jeebus" the next morning at 8am. Otherwise, I would have said "no" to the alcohol and "yes" to diet coke. Details.

So... I woke at 6, threw up a couple of times for good measure, got showered and dressed, and played tired for my drive with the Mr. to Chesterfield County. Neat-o.

Their office was hot and sweaty and had no AC. It was my own personal hell. And we had to watch as the board went through each of the 106 precincts (of which we only had 11 of) and watch them verify the numbers and count the provisional ballots. It's good to see that they follow form and regulation, but not so good when you just want to ralph anytime anyone says anything to you. Which, by the way, happened a lot.

Good thing I wasn't puking in the bathroom of the registrar's office or anything. That would have been embarrassing. Thank GOD for the 'Wint-o-mints' I brought with me. They were, of course, my saving grace. Per usual.

At the end of the day, once the votes were canvassed in both Richmond City and Chesterfield County, we held on to our lead with a 42 vote differential. Phew.

So now, we wait. We wait for the State Board of Elections to certify the results (by Nov. 23rd). We wait for the inevitability of Brad Marrs demanding a recount. And we wait until that is completed. We wait because when you kick Republican Right Wing Ass (as dear Ali so eloquently put it), you want to make damn sure that we jumped through all the hops and did this thing the right way... Which we did.

And now, dear friends, I will retire for this evening... but I do look forward to seeing all of you soon! Thank y'all again for everything you did to help me through this process. I couldn't have survived without your support.

loving life,
~molly "cj cregg" jackson

Well, I'll have to post as anonymous, but that's OK. That Molly, she's amazing. She was the Best Campaign Manager Ever. She had great music (except the Ashlee Simpson - that was awful) and the reaction when she realized we won was... Priceless. Love her. She's great.
